I love the fall. Not just because of the fashion or because I’m sick of the summer heat. I love fall because it’s grape harvest season and my favorite pastime is of course drinking wine. This weekend, we decided to take a drive up to the Robibero winery to check out a vineyard right outside of Westchester.
The Robibero family are Westchester natives and have been running the winery in New Paltz a little under 10 years. It’s a name I’ve been hearing for a while now and since I had the itch to get out of town and drink at the same time, this was the perfect trip for a sunny Fall Saturday. I woke my boyfriend up early, threw on my favorite flannel and called my sister and brother in law for a double date adventure up i87.
The winery was so beautiful, rows of vines and a main lodge sit on the sprawling acres with a beautiful backdrop of trees as far as the eye could see. I sipped wine and thought about how beautiful this place would be for a wedding!
The wine tasting was fun, but the best part was the winery mascot. We parked ourselves at the bar ready to start our flight when we saw a tiny little ball of fur prance around right behind our bartender. It was a teacup Yorkie named Snickers and my heart nearly exploded, he was so cute! He’s a fixture at the vineyard and even has his face on the Rose!
After savoring five different wines, we picked our favorite, bought a bottle and hung out by the fire pit outside while a live band played some awesome covers. We took this moment to get a good afternoon buzz on and play with every puppy that came our way. The vineyard is puppy and family friendly, but the day was still fun and relaxing for my boozy squad! Robibero Winery was totally worth the drive up from the W and I can’t wait to visit again.
