Summer Fashion: Striped shorts and a silky top

OOTD: Striped Shorts

Putting together an outfit is a balancing act. Showing off too much skin is the fastest way to to looking clueless when it comes to getting dressed. On the other hand, layer one too many pieces and you’ll look like the poor mans Olsen twin.

Every outfit I put together has some balance to it.

This past weekend I went rogue and decided to show a little leg. I’m not really one for shorts, especially working in corporate America – when on earth will I ever have time to wear them? but how cute are these BCBG’s? I usually skip the shorts when shopping but earlier this year I found these awesome high waisted shorts in the new Saks Off Fifth in White Plains and had to have them.

Summer is almost over and they’ve made it out of their drawer only a few times so I had to give em another go. I was meeting my sister for lunch (drinks) so what better time than the present, right?

I pair the shorts with a silky black Trouve tee that’s split in the back. I love how flowy and comfy this top is for summer.

One of my favorite trends now (and forever) is a chunky heel. I’m so looking forward to fall fashion with all the 70’s inspired booties I’ve been seeing but until then I love these Vince Camuto peep toe shooties. They can totally dress up any casual outfit and are commuter friendly!

Of course any outfit I put on would not be complete without a gigantic bag! I love my big Furla tote because it fits everything I need AND my work computer! That’s an impossible feat for any other bag in my closet so I’m doing all I can to make this one last as long as possible.

Last tip of the day – if you’re in a rush and need to put something together quick, you’ll never go wrong with black & white!
